Rivers Crisis: Pro Fubara group expels members over ties with Wike

On Tuesday, the Concerned Rivers Citizens, or CRC, announced the expulsion of a few of its members who were allegedly supporters of the state’s previous governor, Nyesom Wike.

The group said that the accused impostors were banished due to their nefarious and self-serving actions in a statement released by Secretary-General Kelvin Eguono and President Jackson Thomas.

We find it shocking that these people would blackmail Governor Simi Fubara in an effort to appease their bosses while disregarding the actual problems that exist.

The statement read, “We want to be clear that we do not support their actions and that we are not a part of their scheme.”

The group made it clear that it is an impartial organization dedicated to advancing accountability and good government, and that neither Wike nor the current governor, Siminalayi Fubara, had their allegiance.

It said, “We will not be swayed by personal interests or political affiliations. We are committed to promoting the truth and the rule of law in Rivers State.”

Since 2023, Wike, the incumbent Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, and Fubara have been at odds, sparking a political crisis that has persisted in spite of President Bola Tinubu’s and other stakeholders’ participation.
