Kano: Bayero, other deposed Emirs angry because they lost privileges – Sanusi II
Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II, the 16th Emir of Kano, has stated that he comprehends the unhappiness of Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero and the other ousted emirs.
Sanusi stated in a Saturday Sun interview that they feel betrayed since they are deprived of the benefits they were granted as emirs.
Claimants to the Kano Emirate’s throne are Sanusi and Bayero.
“What we are dealing with is a situation where somebody divided us,” stated Sanusi. In actuality, certain people receive advantages when these items are created. They’ve had it for four years, even though they didn’t ask for it.
“Now when they lose it, it’s a problem. But the problem is not what has happened today. It is what happened four years ago. If it had not been done, we would not be in this situation today. We are one family, we are one people. Somebody comes, divides us up.
“Even in this family, he takes one emirate, gives it to a part of the family. Now, when people enjoy it for four years and you take it away from them, it becomes a problem.”
In response to the order for his detention and removal from the palace, Bayero was granted N10 million in compensation by a Federal High Court in Kano on Friday.
Ado Bayero was overthrown by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf last month and given a 48-hour notice to cede office.
