The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, or EFCC, has been accused by Auwal Musa, the National Youth Leader of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, of politically witch-hunting Rabiu Kwankwaso, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate.

According to Musa, there is no basis for the EFCC to look into Kwankwaso.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the youth leader claimed that it would be pointless to look into a “honest and hardworking” individual like Kwankwaso.

Musa emphasized that certain political opponents were behind the attack, which was intended to damage Kwankwaso’s reputation.

“I challenge the EFCC to produce facts regarding the allegations; if not, we consider it an attempt to victimize and conduct a witch hunt,” he declared.

“Why look into party issues and why did the EFCC wait to investigate him for nine years after becoming office?

“Go to Kano and observe his actions as governor; review his records as a senator and minister of defense.”

Musa asked the EFCC to reject any plea that any politician or associate has written disparaging Kwankwaso.
