‘EFCC cracking down on internet fraudsters ‘Yahoo!” because of their lifestyles’ – Portable

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, also known as the EFCC, is allegedly targeting internet fraudsters because of their ostentatious lifestyles, according to Nigerian artist Habeeb Okikiola, better known by his stage name Portable.

He clarified that the anti-graft agency became aware of the online scammers who left their impoverished parents behind in order to live extravagant lives with the money they stole from them.

“Why won’t EFCC arrest the youths when they are doing Yahoo, using iPhone 15, and lodging in hotels, but their mothers are selling akara [bean cake] and their fathers are suffering,” Portable asked in a video message posted on his Instagram account.

But he emphasized that not everyone leading an opulent lifestyle engages in online fraud, and he asked the anti-graft organization to thoroughly investigate before making any arrests.
