Sad Friday: 14 killed as truck rams into worshippers after prayers in Kano

In Imawa town, on the Zaria–Kano route in the Kura Local Government Area of Kano State, an automobile accident claimed the lives of no fewer than fourteen people.

On Friday in Kano, Ibrahim Abdullahi, the state’s FRSC sector commander, confirmed the incident to reporters.

He added that 14 people were killed in the collision, which happened when a truck with the license plate MKA 537 XN lost control and struck pedestrians who had just finished their Friday prayers.

“We received a distress call at about 01:50 p.m. on June 28, 2024,” Mr. Abdullahi stated. We promptly sent our staff and car to the accident site as soon as we received the information.

“To prevent such preventable tragedies, the FRSC is committed to road safety and urges all road users to adhere strictly to traffic regulations.”

The sector commander sent his sympathies to the bereaved families and reassured the public that investigations were still on to determine the precise cause of the disaster.
